Due to potentially damaging weather this afternoon and evening, the children’s musical and pre-show events in the Leawood Sanctuary have been cancelled and will be rescheduled.
Scheduled programming has resumed for Thursday, February 13 at all Resurrection locations.
Addiction rarely stays contained to one person. It reshapes marriages, friendships, and family dinners, and the people closest to someone struggling often carry weight they don’t have language for. How to Cope is a seven-session program from First Call, offered in person for adult family members and friends navigating a loved one’s substance use, meeting Sundays from October 4 through November 15, with a meal served at 5:30 pm and class running from 6 to 8 pm. The sessions move through real ground, from what enabling behavior actually looks like, to how substance use disorder affects an entire family system, to what choices are genuinely available to you as a supporter. The National Association of State Alcohol/Drug Abuse Directors recognizes How to Cope as a research-informed program shown to strengthen relationship skills and build resiliency, and sessions can be tailored to the needs of the group.
