I’m starting this group because I want to gather Korean Resurrection people and foster a community of support and fellowship. I hope that in this group, you can bring your authentic self as Korean and experience deeper connection and a renewed faith and calling to serve others. I grew up in South Korea and yet have lived half of my life in America. I was an English teacher in South Korea. I’ve served as a chaplain and now serve as a connection and a care pastor at Resurrection.

I would be so excited to welcome you to my small group. Building teams and relationships is a passion of mine, and I have 34 years of ministry experience to show for it. I have served as the Leadership Development leader for the conference as well as serving as District Superintendent of the Wichita area. Leading small groups have always been one of my favorite things to do. It’s always fun to watch the class develop a deeper understanding of the Bible and how it leads to involvement in mission and outreach. Learning, community, a chance to dig deeper into the scripture/faith matters a great deal to me. Maybe it does to you, too!

All are Welcome.

Small groups and the people in them have always been one of the greatest influences on my walk with Christ, I hope that God will use this group to do the same for others. My hope is members will find a group that inspires them to grow stronger in their relationship with God, that they can lean on in times of doubt or struggle and be able to find God’s joy and peace in life.

I want to help women develop friendships and support each other as we grow in our faith. This online class will offer women a way to connect who are not able to attend local church groups due to health or other reasons. We are an existing online small group of women. We will walk alongside you, wherever you are in your faith journey, as we try to live out God’s love in community. I live in Colorado Springs, Colorado and have been married 40+ years. We have raised two adopted children, a daughter from Russia and a son from Kazakhstan. I am passionate about working to house the homeless in our community. We cannot wait to welcome you!

With such a large church it can be hard to build community on Sundays only, so we are starting a small group for a better opportunity to build relationships with other families at the large community that is Resurrection! We hope to have the opportunity to build meaningful friendships center around a faithful pursuit towards service and becoming better Christians. About us: we love football, but the soccer kind. We are diehard Chelsea fans (UP THE CHELS) who love to cheer them on Saturday mornings with our babies. We enjoy being outdoors with golf being something we try and do often together. We’ll see you in our group!

This small group  will be comprised of women who meet and fellowship with one another amidst our busy schedules.  I look forward to seeing a wide range of backgrounds, interests, and ages who want to live into  the teachings of Jesus.  On the first Thursday of each month we will fellowship with a potluck dinner at my home. I was born and raised in Wichita. After divorce I returned from California to my Kansas roots and have always been a Midwest girl.

I’m starting this small group to create connections with other women who would like to grow in their faith through study and service. I believe single women over 40 face unique challenges, and I hope that we can form a supportive community in which we can come together to share life experiences, form lasting friendships, and deepen our faith through discussion. I’m a high school teacher and a voracious reader. I love animals and have been involved in pet shelters and rescues for over 25 years. I also love to bake. I just joined Resurrection in September 2022, so I have a lot of room to grow in my faith and understanding.

I’m starting this new small group because I need more God in my life, and I believe all of us do, too. My hope for you is that this experience leads you to a close encounter with God, community, and fellowship. I’ve taken several Disciple courses and am ready to live into this new experience. I’m a retired nurse, I love dogs, and I’m ready to jump in!

Why Small Groups?

Welcome to Resurrection small groups! “Small groups” have become so commonplace in contemporary churches that many of us have taken for granted their significance. We forget that the Christian faith is best lived in relationship with other believers, and that these relationships have the power to change us. Despite how commonplace small groups have become in churches, though, what is not commonplace is their power. We may hear the message of the Gospel at church, but small groups empower us through group dialogue to become that message for the world. We’re here to help you along that journey. It doesn’t have to be burdensome or overbearing – we believe these relationships can change your life!

The Small Group Journey

Small group ministry at Resurrection occurs alongside our church’s purpose statement: to build a Christian community where nonreligious and nominally religious people are becoming deeply committed Christians. “Becoming” entails constant growth, and therefore the long-term vision for small groups is one of gradual maturation in the Christian faith. The small group journey holds in tension the formation of close community on the one hand, and responding to God when we are called to take the next step in our faith on the other hand. We talk about the small group journey in three stages. As you begin your time with our small group ministry, you will hear detailed information about each stage.

STAGE 1

Stage one has two major goals in mind: a commitment to learning how to serve your fellow small group members well, and the cultivation of a deep awareness of your personal story. A small group journal will facilitate this stage.

STAGE 2

Stage 2 also has two major goals in mind: the development of a deep life of personal devotion, and the sharing of your faith through mentorship. An additional small group journal will facilitate this stage.

STAGE 3

Ultimately, our desire is that through your participation in a small group, you might come to respond to God’s call on your life to disciple others. If our journey is one of “becoming” – of continued growth in God’s love – that road will lead us towards making a decision to disciple other people, which is the major goal of stage 3.
