In-person programs have been canceled until Wednesday at 5 PM at each of the church’s locations, with the exception of recovery meetings, backpack stuffing for school partners, and the food pantry at Overland Park, which will each continue as scheduled.
The church will reopen on Wednesday at 5 pm for all scheduled programs.
Dear Resurrection Family,
As I send this, we are sitting in meetings with the Kansas City Royals discussing the proposed downtown stadium and the impact on Resurrection Downtown. I had hoped to have an update to share with you today. We don’t at this time, but I am so excited about Easter worship at Resurrection that I wanted to make sure that you see this information before the end of the day. I will provide an email update on the Royals when we have something to share.
I can think of no better place to celebrate Easter than the Church of the RESURRECTION! We have six area locations and 34 worship services to choose from. We’ll have modern and traditional styles of worship. We’ll be on three TV stations at four times locally, and in Tulsa on TV station KJRH. Our downtown location will be holding services in the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts on Sunday at 9 and 11 am.
In addition to powerful music, and the amazing beauty of our sanctuaries with Easter flowers, my message will focus on hope. The message includes the earliest account of Easter, found in Paul’s first letter to the Corinthians written more than a decade before the first gospel. I’ll take you on a literal roller coaster ride as we consider how the resurrection impacts our lives. We’ll look at how Eugene Peterson’s faith shaped his final hours and we’ll consider what it looks like to live with and to be people who pass on, hope.
We all know someone who doesn’t have a church family and needs the Easter message of hope this year. Make a call, send an email, or text a friend or family member and invite them to join you for Easter worship at Resurrection. Here’s the list of all our service times and locations, including online and television.
As you make your Easter plans, if Resurrection is your church home I want to encourage you to consider worshipping at either a Saturday service or a 7 am Sunday sunrise service if it works for you. We anticipate that many people will worship this weekend, some for the very first time, and we want to be able to welcome them and share this Easter message of hope.

Again, if Resurrection is your church home and you are able to, I want to encourage you to consider worshiping at either a Saturday service or a 7 am Sunday sunrise service. If you can’t, we understand, but if you can, you may make room for someone to hear the good news of Easter.
After a very busy Easter weekend, I’ll be taking vespers off this Tuesday to rest.
Beginning April 9, we have a three-week study just college students that dives deep into Christianity’s toughest questions. The class starts at 7 pm and is offered at Resurrection Leawood and online. There’s a free pizza dinner at 6:30 pm for those who attend in person. Find out more and register here.
If you are considering becoming a member of Resurrection, I’d like to invite you to a special gathering at each of our locations and online on Sunday, April 14, at 2 pm. (Please note it will be at 9 am on Saturday, April 13 at Resurrection Blue Springs.) Called “Coffee with the Pastors, these events hosted throughout the year are your opportunity to meet our pastors and learn about the church, our ministries and membership in an informal setting. Then at the end of the presentations, we’ll take a short break followed by an joining ceremony for those who are ready to officially become Resurrection members. Childcare is provided, and you can register and get the details here.
I’m so looking forward to sharing Easter with you this weekend!
