Prayer Tip: Do This in Remembrance of Me
Daily Scripture
1 Corinthians 11:23-26 (NRSV), John 6:35, 51, 53-56, 58b (NRSV)
For I received from the Lord what I also handed on to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took a loaf of bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body that is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way he took the cup also, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.
Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty…I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats of this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh…Very truly, I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood have eternal life, and I will raise them up on the last day; for my flesh is true food and my blood is true drink. Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood abide in me, and I in them…the one who eats this bread will live forever.”
Daily Reflection & Prayer
This week at Resurrection Overland Park I had to joy of facilitating our prayer team meeting. I was in awe of the commitment that the team members have made to serve Christ in praying for our community. Their love for each other and for those prayers that go unnamed and unspoken was inspiring.
As I sat there listening to each of them, I was reminded of Scripture. 1 Corinthians 12 says there is one body, but it has many parts. But all its many parts make up one body. It is the same with Christ. We were all baptized by one Holy Spirit. And so, we are formed into one body. It didn’t matter whether we were Jews or Gentiles, slaves or free people. We were all given the same Spirit to drink. So, the body is not made up of just one part. It has many parts.
I am so grateful for our prayer team and for all of our volunteers! It takes each of us to be the hands and feet of the Kingdom here on earth.

Almighty and Everlasting God, thank you for building a kingdom that encourages the priesthood of all believers. We use our prayers, our presence, our gifts, our service, and our witness to continue to glorify the Kingdom in all we do. We give you thanks, God, in all we do each day that we may be a beacon of light and hope to others. In your name we pray, Amen.
