Volunteer Opportunities

Matthew’s Ministry would not be possible without the help from our dedicated volunteers. Not only will you be a blessing to a Matthew’s Ministry family, but the joy you will receive from such an opportunity is priceless!
Step 1: Fill Out a Volunteer Interest Form

Fill out a form to indicate your interest and in which Matthew's Ministry programs you would like to get involved!

Step 2: Complete a Volunteer Application

Complete Resurrection's Volunteer Application and select "Special Needs Ministry" as your area of interest.

Family Night Out Volunteers

Numerous Family Night Out volunteers are needed each month to make our events a success. Volunteers will be paired with a participant with special needs or a sibling for the evening. There are also opportunities to help in the kitchen or with crafts and activities. Prior experience not necessary, just a heart to serve. Volunteers ages 13 years or younger are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult when volunteering.

Angel Care Support Volunteers

Angel Care Support volunteers provide direct support for a child or student with special needs while they attend Resurrection Kids or Resurrection Students programming with their typical peers; or help in the Angel Care sensory room for participants of all ages needing specialty care. Opportunities are available on Sundays at 9 am or 11 am, and Wednesday evenings at all Resurrection locations.

Sunday Group Volunteers

Sunday Group volunteers join in fellowship with students and adults with special needs as they engage in worship and an adapted Bible lesson. Volunteers are welcome to lead the group lesson or simply join for engagement and fellowship with participants. Opportunities are available on Sundays at 11 am or 5 pm at Resurrection Leawood.

Drama Club Volunteers

Drama Club volunteers help to engage students and adults with special needs in the performing arts and theater during weekly Monday evening rehearsals as well as various productions at Resurrection Leawood.

Sonflower Ringers volunteers help assist the inclusive hand bell choir composed of adults with special needs during the weekly Sunday rehearsals and various productions at Resurrection Leawood.

Sonflower Bakery volunteers assist adults with special needs in the bakery to make baked goods. Opportunities are available on weekdays Monday through Friday at Resurrection Leawood.

Resurrection Adult Learning Program volunteers join the group of adults with autism as they participate in various activities. Available at Resurrection Overland Park.
