Due to potentially damaging weather this afternoon and evening, the children’s musical and pre-show events in the Leawood Sanctuary have been cancelled and will be rescheduled.
Scheduled programming has resumed for Thursday, February 13 at all Resurrection locations.
God has used Church of the Resurrection to change lives, strengthen churches, and transform the world since 1990. Sacred spaces are an important part of that calling. They are places where people encounter God, build meaningful relationships, and are equipped to go out and transform the world.
The Resurrection Sanctuary is a place of prayer and worship for all people; a place where worshipers encounter God and find Christian community. Our architects sought to design a “thin space” where heaven and earth meet, where, before a word is spoken or a note is played, the hearts of those who enter are turned towards God. Through art and architecture, it tells the story of the Christian faith.
This “thin space” of sacred art and architecture brings people into the sacred story by inviting them to find themselves in God’s work of creating, redeeming, and restoring the world.
We’re excited to share with you this historic milestone in our congregation’s history as we open our permanent sanctuary. It is designed to be a sacred space, a sermon in architecture, and a tool through which we strive towards our vision of changing lives, renewing churches, and transforming the community.
The vision and sacrifice of 4,500 donors made the construction of this Sanctuary possible. To each, we give thanks and celebrate how God has used their gifts to change lives and transform communities for generations to come.
More than 2,900 people have helped make the Resurrection Window a reality by contributing in honor or memory of a loved one. Their gifts have become part of a legacy that will draw people to become part of God’s redemptive work in the world for generations.
