Summer Makeover 2026

This summer, our annual School Makeover is taking on a new shape—and a new address. Rather than working inside a school building, we’re heading into the Argentine neighborhood to serve alongside The Hub, a remarkable community gathering place built around knowing your neighbors and working together toward real, lasting change. Through a community market, clothing pantry, community garden, and a new commercial kitchen, The Hub is cultivating economic opportunity and shared resources for the people who call this neighborhood home—including the more than 350 Methodists from many different cultural backgrounds who gather there for worship each week.

Our role this June 3–10 is to help refresh and strengthen the physical space that makes all of this possible.

If you’re looking for a way to show up for Kansas City this summer, this is a meaningful place to start.

MLK Serve Weekend

Join us in honoring the enduring legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. during our MLK Weekend Serve events on Saturday, January 17, and Monday, January 19. In the spirit of Dr. King’s powerful vision of social justice, equality, and community empowerment, we invite you to roll up your sleeves and make a meaningful difference in our community through various service projects across multiple locations.

Our events are designed as easy, low-commitment ways to make a positive impact on our neighbors in the metro area. Try something new or enjoy a familiar favorite. Either way, you’ll experience the powerful impact of helping others by becoming God’s hands and feet right here in Kansas City.

Ministries Closing the Gap

Serve by using your gifts and talents both inside and outside the walls of the church. Each of us is given spiritual gifts and natural abilities that we can use to serve others and glorify God. The church is the Body of Christ, and each of us is a member of the Body. We are all invited to carry on Christ’s mission in the world, to meet the needs of the people. Whether you are gifted in teaching, helping, encouraging or something else, God is counting on you to touch the lives of others as you serve God.

When The Table Disappears

At Mill Creek Park, one simple decision changed everything: stepping around the table and sitting down to share a meal. This reflection explores how moving from “doing for” to “being with” can transform the way we serve our neighbors.

2023 Missions Annual Report

A message from our lead director

If I were asked to come up with one word to describe Mission Ministries in 2023, it would have to be growth! Fueled by fantastic January weather, the year began with a record-breaking MLK Serve weekend marked by 2,000 individuals honoring Dr. King’s legacy by participating in community service projects across the metro. In February, you followed that up with a robust response to our 2023 domestic and global serve trips invitation and a Sack Hunger drive that yielded the equivalent of 118,512 pounds of food between monetary and physical donations.
