Care Communities

Not called to be a foster parent, but want to do something real to make a big impact? Joining a Care Community is a powerful way to make a lasting impact in the lives of foster families! This is an amazing way to serve as an individual or with your small group!
A Care Community is a team of 8-10 people who provide consistent, wrap-around support for one foster or adoptive family.

Research shows that families caring for vulnerable children are far more likely to continue when they’re surrounded by intentional, ongoing support. By coming alongside them, we help ensure they can serve from a place of abundance—not exhaustion.
Care Communities work together as a team to offer practical help like:

  • Weekly meal drop-offs
  • Laundry assistance
  • Yard work
  • Prayer and encouragement

Together, we can lighten the load and strengthen the families who are making a difference every day. Click the button below if you would like to be a part of a Care Community today!

Community Meals at Resurrection

Looking for Community? All foster and adoptive families are invited to join us for Community Meals—a time to connect, recharge, and grow together.

Held on the 3rd Monday of each month at Resurrection Leawood, these evenings begin with a free, family friendly meal and connection time with other families who share the unique journey of fostering and adoption. After dinner, parents attend a topical class designed to encourage and equip, while kids enjoy fun, age-appropriate programming.

Whether you’re new to fostering or have been walking this road for years, Community Meals offer a space to be supported, seen, and strengthened.

Care Portal

Items we are collecting, help we could use

Care Portal provides a platform connecting a network of caring people to meet the direct needs of kids and families in crisis. Resurrection has a committed team that has access to a monthly budget to support Care Portal requests in the Kansas City area. How can you help?

Join the team that reviews requests and meets the needs! We meet 3rd Mondays at 1:00 pm via Zoom.

List of items we regularly need you can donate in excellent/unexpired condition (please note, these should not be delivered to the church—if you have an item to donate, contact Katy using the button below):

  • Twin Beds
  • Bunk Beds
  • Car seats
  • Mattresses (new, like new only)
  • Gift Cards to Grocery Stores
  • Gift Cards to Uber

List of services needed you could volunteer for:

  • On Demand Truck Hauling Services (pick up bed frame at one spot and deliver it to foster home)
  • Handyperson Services (fix leaky windows, AC units, plumbing, cars, etc)

Respite Events for Foster & Adoptive Parents

Respite events give foster and adoptive parents a well-deserved break while their kids enjoy a fun, themed experience filled with games, snacks, and enthusiastic volunteers. Each event features a new theme to keep things fresh and exciting! While kids are having a blast, parents get a chance to rest, recharge, and breathe—knowing their children are in a safe and joyful environment.
