This weekend in worship, Pastor Adam shared an update on the Leawood Generation to Generation Campaign. Specifically, he shared the progress toward our new, permanent chapel and a new speaker system in the sanctuary. You can hear the full update in the video at the bottom of this page and read details about the new speaker system below.
Permanant Chapel Update
Over the past several months, we have been working on a redesign of our new sacred space: the chapel! Inspired by the timeless narrative of Jesus walking on water and the disciples in the boat, this chapel embodies the presence of Christ in our lives, offering solace and inspiration to all who enter.
The new chapel will be used for the 7:30 am Sunday worship service, funerals, weddings, and more. The chapel will include boat-like structural elements such as slab siding, a water feature entryway, and a cross resembling a mast on the exterior. A stained glass window design will be found at the front of the chapel, with images still being determined by the team.
As worshippers gather in this sacred space, they are reminded of the transformative power of faith — a power that transcends time and space, guiding us through life’s storms and leading us to shores of peace and wholeness. In the presence of Christ, we find strength, hope, and the courage to navigate life’s challenges.
In conclusion, the new chapel at Church of the Resurrection, Leawood will be more than a physical structure; it will be a beacon of light and hope for generations to come.
The new chapel will be funded by the Generation to Generation capital campaign, which launched in the Fall of 2023. Leawood Sanctuary Update
Over the past several months, we tested a new speaker system for an unobstructed view of the stained glass window. The feedback we received from you while testing was incredible. These new speakers are projected to cost between $500-600K. We have budgeted $250K in our Generation to Generation Campaign for the hoist, therefore needing to raise an additional $250-$300K.
If you would like to be a part of making the speakers possible, you can let us know your intentions by using this link. When you are ready to make your gift, you can do so by using this link, or by using any of our various methods like IRA or stock transfer, check, or cash. Please select Leawood Speaker Fund or mark it in the memo. The plan is to have all gifts completed by November of this year when the new speakers will be installed. When you experience the improved sound quality and the unobstructed view of the window, you will know that God used you to make that possible. Thank you!
