Sunday, February 8, our regular 5 pm worship service at Leawood will begin at 4 pm.
Scheduled programming has resumed for Thursday, February 13 at all Resurrection locations.
Greetings from Salina, Kansas. Today I am at Kansas Wesleyan University along with over 30 of our Resurrection pastors and 39 Resurrection lay leaders who are attending the Great Plains Annual Conference. Each year, the pastors and lay representatives of every United Methodist Church in our conference (Kansas and Nebraska) gather to worship, to hear reports on our shared mission and ministry, to ordain and commission new clergy, and to discern God’s will for the United Methodist Church in our region. There are 1,100 delegates here and, in a sense, this kind of gathering is a modern and regional version of the Council of Nicaea we’re studying about in worship.
Here’s a photo of some of our Resurrection group as we gathered for supper last night and one from the conference.

SOLO, a Resurrection group designed specifically for single Christian adults ages 30+ offers an opportunity to gather together in a safe, accepting space. The group meets once a month on Fridays at 6 pm, beginning June 20 at the Leawood location. Their mission is to create a Christian Community where single adults can come together to grow in their faith, learn alongside one another, and experience fellowship and fun. If you’re looking to make new friends or simply enjoy good conversation and community, I hope you’ll check out this group. You can learn more and register here.
You can still get tickets here for Resurrection Night at the K on Friday, June 27, at 7:10 pm when the Kansas City Royals take on the Los Angeles Dodgers at Kauffman Stadium. If you’re going to the game, make sure you stop by Gate A, where we’ll have a Resurrection table nearby to pick up a special gift and enter a drawing for a signed Bobby Witt, Jr. baseball!
Vacation Bible Camp is just weeks away. This is one of the biggest churchwide events for our kids all summer, and we want you to be a part of it. This year’s theme: Wild Kingdom: Trust Leads the Way, is going to be so much fun, and you don’t want to miss it, so register your K – 5th grade kids and grandkids here today.
We still have openings for a special week-long retreat in the Great Smokey Mountains September 14-20. Led by Matt Bisel, Resurrection Pastor and Worship Leader, and Debi Nixon, Resurrection Executive Director, you can experience the transformative power of faith and nature as you explore the rich Methodist heritage while surrounded by the awe-inspiring landscapes that have shaped the region’s unique cultural tapestry. The journey will begin in Gatlinburg, TN, and over six days together, we will be joined by various speakers and storytellers while visiting places within the Smoky Mountain National Park. You can learn more and register here. We are hosting an information meeting via Zoom on Tuesday, June 17 at 6 pm CT. You can join the using this Zoom link.
This week on my podcast, Making Sense of Faith, I sit down with three remarkable young clergy who are reshaping what it means to be a pastor in today’s world. Fresh from a gathering Resurrection leads for United Methodist pastors, these emerging clergy share their deeply personal call stories and their bold vision for creating faith communities that nobody thinks could exist—places where progressive values meet ancient traditions, where doubts are welcomed alongside belief, and where diversity isn’t just tolerated but celebrated as a reflection of God’s kingdom. This conversation will inspire you and be one that I hope you’ll share with friends. You can listen to or watch the podcast by clicking here.
