Baptism is a meaningful and memorable occasion, a sacrament of our faith.

Who should be baptized?

People of all ages can be baptized at Resurrection. Non-members are encouraged to seek membership as soon as possible after being baptized. We baptize by sprinkling Holy Water and making the sign of the cross on the forehead with anointing oil to invite the presence of the Holy Spirit.

The United Methodist Church recognizes baptisms from other faiths and churches and therefore does not re-baptize people, but we do encourage people to attend a special baptism worship service to remember their baptisms.

When do baptisms occur?

Sprinkling and anointing with oil occur during all worship services on select Saturdays and Sundays throughout the year.

How do I schedule a baptism?

All baptisms are scheduled through online registration. Please click on the link to Register for Baptism above. If you do not see a date and time that works for you please add your name to our waiting list.

After you register for your Baptism, you will receive additional instructions by email and be contacted to schedule a one-on-one meeting with a member of our pastoral team to discuss your baptism and walk through the logistics a few weeks prior to the date.

If you have any questions, please contact our Baptism Coordinator by emailing baptism@cor.org.

Baptism by Immersion

June 25, 2023 | Leawood Building C, Wesley Memorial Garden

Baptism is a foundational practice of the Christian faith and the sacrament by which—since the time of Christ—people seeking to be followers of Jesus make a public profession of their faith. As United Methodists, we—with most Christians—affirm all modes of baptism (sprinkling, pouring, and immersion), and each summer seek to offer a special baptism service by immersion. If you have not been baptized, whether you’ve been seeking to be a follower of Christ for years or are interested in making that decision for the first time, we’d like to invite you to join our special baptism service on June 25. Space is limited, and registration is required.

The Meaning of Baptism

In the sermon video here, Pastor Adam explores the meaning of baptism in scripture and for our lives today. You will see him preaching live from the location of Jesus’ baptism, the Jordan River.
