Emerging Leaders Cohort

What is the Cohort?

Do you want to grow in your faith and leadership? Are you feeling a nudge to pursue leadership within the church? If you answered “yes” to these questions, then The Emerging Leaders Cohort may be your next best step. 

The Emerging Leaders Cohort is a 9-month experience for young adults ages 22 to 35 who desire to strengthen their relationship with God and grow in their leadership within the church. The Cohort is a community of young adults that learn, grow, and serve together. Our workshops balance teaching, engagement, practice, and reflection so that we incorporate your whole being – head, heart, and hands. Our amazing mentors ensure our Emerging Leaders receive an opportunity to process their leadership experience in a safe space. All along the way, the Cohort discerns together what God may be inviting you to do next as a leader in the church. We’ll explore the purpose, vision, and journey of Resurrection, explore the life of John Wesley and the core values of Methodism, and cap the entire experience by going on a trip to walk in the steps of John Wesley in England! 

Who Should Apply?

  • Applicants should be followers of Jesus.
  • Applicants should already serve in some capacity at Resurrection.
  • Applicants should be considering new or deeper leadership opportunities in the Church, both inside and outside of Resurrection. You don’t have to have made up your mind yet – we’ll help you with the discernment process.

  • Parachurch Leadership
  • Missions (Local or Global)
  • Vocational Ministry (Clergy or Lay Leadership)

Give Me the Details

Expectations:

Attendance

  • The Emerging Leaders Cohort is nine months long
  • The Cohort meets twice a month with breaks at Thanksgiving and Christmas (19 planned cohort meetings)
  • The Cohort begins in August 2024 and ends in May 2025
  • The Wesley trip is tentatively planned for August 2025 with trip team meetings in June, July, and August 
  • Members of the Cohort are expected to attend all Cohort meetings, with exceptions made only for illness or extenuating circumstances.

Mentoring

  • Each Emerging Leader in the Cohort will have the opportunity to participate in selecting a mentor
  • Emerging Leaders are expected to meet in-person or virtually with their mentor at least once a month September, 2024 – May, 2025

Service

Throughout the Cohort, the Emerging Leaders will be asked to join in the Resurrection rhythm of service by participating in service opportunities:

  • Leadership Institute (September 2024)
  • Christmas at Resurrection (December 2024)
  • Christmas Eve (December 2024)
  • MLK Serve Day (January 2025)
  • Easter (April 2025)
  • Other service opportunities as the make sense
