Sunday, February 8, our regular 5 pm worship service at Leawood will begin at 4 pm.
Scheduled programming has resumed for Thursday, February 13 at all Resurrection locations.
Who do you know who needs this message of hope? I want to encourage you not just to invite someone, but to invite them to come to worship with you. Sometimes walking into an unfamiliar place with larger-than-usual crowds can be intimidating; coming with a friend can ease that concern. This weekend in worship, we’ll have a handout with all the Easter times and locations that you can share with your friends. You can also share the worship times and locations list online at resurrection.church/Easter, as well as our Easter television spot. Click HERE to see and share the TV spot.
Last week, Pastors Joshua Clough and Robert Johnson led a powerful two-day trip to Tulsa and Pawhuska, Oklahoma, where congregants learned about the Tulsa Race Massacre of 1921 and visited the Osage Nation. The group engaged in challenging conversations about the history of racism, injustice, and violence in our nation. As Joshua shared: “When you hear the story of an entire community violently destroyed, like the Greenwood District of Tulsa, the reality weighs heavily. But also, we heard about resilience and rebuilding and hope. We reflected on how people of faith can listen, learn, and live in ways that build bridges across difference, reflecting the light and love of Christ.” I’m so grateful these trips were offered and look forward to participating in one of these myself in the future. If you are interested in a 2027 trip, you can sign up here. Below are a couple of photos of the group (click to enlarge):

During his final week, Jesus celebrated the Passover meal with his disciples. This “Seder” meal is a traditional Jewish ritual feast commemorating the Exodus from Egypt. Our friends at the Jewish Community Relations Bureau have invited us to join them for a Unity Seder on Monday, April 27, at 5:30 pm. This event brings Christians, Muslims and Jews together. I’m planning to participate and would love for some of you to join me. If you are interested, you can register here.
I spent time this week walking our Leawood Outdoor Prayer Walk – Our Stations of the Life of Jesus – with a group of college students this week. Located to the south of the Leawood sanctuary, between the parking lots, this prayer walk was designed to be roughly the distance Jesus carried his cross on Good Friday. Catholics have the “Stations of the Cross” – we’ve drawn inspiration from them, but our prayer walk follows major events from the entire life of Jesus. There is local art, and quiet places for reflection. Everyone is welcome, and we have devotional guides to help you as you pray and retrace Jesus’ life. On Good Friday, join the indoor prayer vigil in the Wesley Chapel, and if the weather is nice, you can pick up the devotional guide from a box near the first station of the prayer walk. You can see the various stations of the prayer walk on its website here.
