Resurrection Brookside announces an online class, “The Problem with Closure: Cultural Expectations of Grief,” on October 29 from 6:30 to 8 pm. Dr. Jessica Killeen, a sociologist and professor at JCCC with personal experience in loss, will be the special guest host. The session will explore grief, challenging cultural expectations of closure, and offer alternative coping strategies. While part of a suicide support group series, this discussion is relevant to all forms of loss. Dr. Killeen, holding degrees from the University of Sydney, will share insights from her ongoing research on mothering, perinatal loss, and grief expectations. This online-only meeting welcomes anyone grappling with loss and seeks to provide a supportive environment for open discussion.
