Resurrection FAQs

You should expect to be warmly greeted and to feel right at home on your first visit. You’re certain to find friendly people who are ready to help you find your way without overwhelming you. And whether you’ve been to a church before or not, you’ll find that the worship service is simple to follow, the teachings are meaningful, thoughtful and relevant to your life, and there are no insider secrets. In fact, our church was built from the ground up for visitors like you, and we expect that at the end of the service, you’ll want to come back.

Each service varies in worship style and personality and music styles range from traditional to contemporary. There is certainly a service that feels like home for you. You can find out more about service times and styles by visiting our online and/or location pages: Leawood, West, Downtown, Blue Springs, Overland Park, Brookside, Spring Hill, Liberty, Online.

Most of our sermons from 2010 to the present are available in our sermon library on this site. These, along with older sermons, are also available for purchase through our bookstore, The Well.

You can worship with us online through our online streaming page. We stream live services on Sundays, and we re-broadcast worship services on your own schedule throughout the week.

Resurrection is part of the United Methodist denomination, the second largest Protestant denomination in America, and we uphold our heritage by pursuing ministry in keeping with this tradition. We seek to be generous in spirit, broadminded, devoted to Jesus Christ, and wholly surrendered to God. We strive for personal holiness by inviting people into a life-transforming relationship with Jesus Christ, and we pursue social holiness in the public sphere by addressing key issues of our time so that our world will look more like the Kingdom of God.

United Methodists share a common heritage with other Christians, holding to the historic essentials of the Christian faith. We have a passionate faith with strong convictions, but we also recognize that the world is not always black and white. We are willing to ask questions, to wrestle with difficult issues, and to do so with grace and compassion. We are “people of the Book,” whose faith is firmly rooted in and built upon the scriptures. We hold the Bible to be divinely inspired and are committed to live by its words and we recognize the Bible was written by people who heard God in the light of their own cultural and historical circumstances. As such, we make use of scholarship and study the scriptures carefully. When we encounter theological differences, we bear in mind John Wesley’s approach, “in essentials, unity; in nonessentials, liberty; in all things, charity.”

We believe the goal of the Christian life is to love God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength, and to love your neighbor as you love yourself. From the beginning of the Methodist movement, we were known as “reasonable enthusiasts,” those who are both emotionally and intellectually engaged. We value passionate worship, relevant preaching, small groups to hold Christians accountable to one another, and serving those who are in need. We value the spiritual disciplines and take a “methodical” approach to growing in the faith. United Methodists value the full participation of women and men, people of all backgrounds in every facet of fellowship and leadership within the church and society.

This is our heritage, and it continues to shape Resurrection, A United Methodist Church in every area of our ministry.

Adam Hamilton is our church’s founding and senior pastor. He has been married to LaVon for over 30 years, with two daughters and one granddaughter. You can read more about Adam in his staff bio. In addition to his role as Senior Pastor, Adam has authored 22 books that are known for helping readers to make sense of challenging theological questions, exploring the significance of the biblical stories, and equipping Christian leaders to be more effective in their work. To follow Adam, you can follow him on FacebookTwitter, or follow his blog.

We are one church, but we meet in several locations around the Kansas City area: in Leawood, West, Olathe, Downtown Kansas City, Blue Springs, Overland Park, Brookside, and Spring Hill with locations coming soon to Liberty and Lee’s Summit. Each location uniquely fits within its own context and has its own ministry leaders. But all of our locations share a common purpose, vision and resources. This allows each location to draw from the creative resources of a large church while still maintaining the relevance in the local community.

Worship is live at each location, though Pastor Adam typically preaches live in Leawood with the sermons delivered to the other locations via video. No matter which location you attend, you’ll find friendly people who are ready for your visit.

At Resurrection, we believe that architecture and art can reflect God’s beauty and can draw people closer into relationship with God. As we have built our facilities, we take special care to create sacred space where people can feel God’s presence, whether that’s through prayer walks, stained glass windows, baptismal fonts and fountains, or any of the other beautiful pieces at our six locations.

You can learn more about the details of these artistic elements, including the artists and donors who made them possible, through our Sacred Spaces website.

We are passionate about helping to strengthen other churches and we love to share resources, including the print and digital designs we create, the forms we use, the curriculum we develop and even the hard lessons we’re learning. Many of these tools are available through our resource-sharing website sharechurch.com. We also host conferences for church leaders, such as the annual Leadership Institute. My Account FAQs

Your Resurrection My Account is home to your profile information, attendance records, financial giving and commitments, and more. My Account is accessed from the church website by clicking the ‘My Account’ link in the black header at the top of the page and using the simplified login process. For additional information on the login process, see the information below under “How do I access My Account?”. On the Profile page, you can update your address, email, phone, and other important personal and contact information, including your picture, which helps pastors and the Care team when they need to connect with you. The links on your Profile page let you view and update your attendance record, access financial giving statements, manage online giving schedules, and manage your registrations for local events like Serve Saturday.

You can access My Account from the church website, and click ‘My Account’ in the upper right of the page. The next page asks for your mobile phone number or email address so a verification code can be sent to you. Recover the code from your text messages or email and enter in the six boxes on the next page.   If your record is already established, your My Account page will open. If your phone number or email is shared with someone else, the screen will prompt you to select yourself. If we do not have your record already established, the page will ask for information to get you started. A guide posted on the My Account Login page provides additional details.

Password-less logins allow us to ask for your mobile phone number or email to send a verification code that only you can access from your device or email account to log in to your My Account. This saves you setting up and remembering a typical user ID and password while maintaining security because you control access to the verification code when it is sent.

There are two ways to get help accessing or using your Resurrection My Account. The first way is from the Resurrection website at resurrection.church/contact us. Select “My Account Login Help,” provide us your name, contact information, and a short message describing how we can assist you, and ‘Submit’ the form. The other way to get help is to text HELP to 913-914-2600 from your phone. You will receive a reply message with a link to the Contact Us form. Complete the form the same as noted above. You should expect to receive a response to your request within three days.
