Ash Wednesday services at all Resurrection locations will be held on schedule today.
Scheduled programming has resumed for Thursday, February 13 at all Resurrection locations.
Jesus said to Nicodemus, “I assure you, unless someone is born anew, it’s not possible to see God’s kingdom.” Nicodemus asked, “How is it possible for an adult to be born? It’s impossible to enter the mother’s womb for a second time and be born, isn’t it?” Jesus answered, “I assure you, unless someone is born of water and the Spirit, it’s not possible to enter God’s kingdom.”
If anyone is in Christ, that person is part of the new creation. The old things have gone away, and look, new things have arrived!
Today’s Scripture readings are about the change that happens as we draw near to Jesus—being born anew, being born “of water and of Spirit” (a reference to baptism), and becoming part of a new creation.
Most of us have done things in our past that we’re not proud of. Many of us carry regrets—moments we wish we could undo. But here’s the powerful truth of God’s grace: as we draw near to Jesus, “the old things have gone away.”
God’s grace is enough for us.
God’s grace is enough for me.
God’s grace is enough for you.
Pray this daily this week.
Almighty and everlasting God,
Thank you for your grace.
Draw me closer to you today.
Let me embrace being born anew.
Let the old things pass away.
Let all things become new.
Help me to live in this newness—
that others would see this new life in me
and be drawn to Jesus through me.
And by the power of the Holy Spirit,
may others experience being part of Your new creation.
I ask this in Your powerful and holy name,
Amen.
