Our events are designed as easy, low-commitment ways to make a positive impact on our neighbors in the metro area. Try something new or enjoy a familiar favorite. Either way, you’ll experience the powerful impact of helping others by becoming God’s hands and feet right here in Kansas City.

Kindergarten Readiness Kits
Join us in honoring the enduring legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. during our MLK Weekend Serve events. We will be in Foundry Hall at Leawood (Building B) to build kindergarten readiness kits for the KCK Public School District to hand out to their Pre-K families.

Partner Schools Open Volunteer Days
Partnering with schools is one of the most meaningful ways we live out dignity, compassion, and fairness in our community. At our partner schools we walk alongside students and educators so that every child has a fair chance at a bright future. CBB’s mission is to ensure that homeless, uninsured, or otherwise vulnerable members of society retain access to quality medical and mental health care. Medical supplies and hospitality items are distributed to the community throughout the week. This serve opportunity will help prepare donations for recipients receiving medical care.

Resurrection Brookside
Join us as we grow together in our mission to develop cultural awareness and acceptance for all our neighbors. This valuable training is designed to foster a deeper understanding of our diverse community, enhancing cross-cultural interactions.

Greater KC Coalition to End Homelessness (GKCCEH)
The mission of GKCCEH is to advance the collaborative goal of preventing poverty and ending homelessness within the Greater Kansas City area. For this serve event, we will be building kits for the homeless.

Hope & Faith
Hope Faith is a non-denominational, Christian based low-barrier Homelessness Assistance Campus in Greater Kansas City. Join us at Hope Faith as we serve a homemade breakfast to the shelter guests. 16 & Older
Lazarus Ministies
The mission of Lazarus Ministries KC is to offer unlimited compassion while providing for the unmet needs of Kansas City’s urban core. We bring hope and opportunity to those in need and work toward solutions for homelessness and food insecurity. Join us as we serve a meal and assist in the boutique. 18 & Older
Resurrection Food Mobile
The Food Mobile provides hungry people in the Kansas City area with fresh, nutritious food and a dignified shopping experience. Volunteers are needed to check-in guests, assist with shopping, and sack groceries. Great for Families! 10 & Older
The Hub Argentine
Experience the diversity and culture of the Argentine neighborhood by serving at The Hub! You will have an opportunity to support the Community Market (Free Grocery Store) and Clothing Closet Programs, complete a few building and painting projects, and meet several of our neighbors. 12 & Older
Hillcrest Thrift Store
Hillcrest Transitional Housing offers homeless families, singles and youth a disciplined educational program within a caring, supportive environment. Hillcrest’s primary objective is to move clients from homelessness to self-sufficiency. Join us in the Thrift Store as we sort, organize and unpack donations. Family Friendly
Hope House
Hope House’s mission is to break the cycle of domestic violence by providing safe refuge and supportive services that educate and empower those impacted by domestic violence. Join us as we completely reorganize the clothing closet! Their closet is available to men, women, and children who are leaving domestic violence situations. 14 & Older
reStart
reStart exists to end homelessness in Kansas City. For over four decades they have tackled homelessness from all angles of the housing continuum using experience and insight to mobilize teams and partners to address this urgent and growing need. Join us as we paint and refresh the inside walls. 12 & Older
Relentless Pursuit
The RPOR Drop-In Center is a safe, non-judgmental place for prostituted women from all backgrounds and races. This serve opportunity will help organize donations received to support this community. 18 & Older.

New Creation
New Creation is a faith based therapeutic community helping men to overcome substance use disorders. Help re-epoxy the floor in the recreation room for the men pursuing their sobriety at New Creation recovery house! All supplies provided. 8 & Older
Starfish Project
The Starfish Foundation provides community service to those of all ages and abilities, in conjunction with local pantries-food donation coordination, limited case management and resource coordination. Join us as we unload and stock food or assist in tying bags for homeless mats. 5 & Older
Blessings Abound
Blessings Abound Thrift Store is a Christian not for profit organization called to serve the metro Kansas City Community by selling and recycling donated merchandise in order to provide aid to people in need.12 & older

Family Resource Center
The Family Resource Center provides solutions to address the needs of working disabled individuals, families and senior citizens facing hardships due to poverty, low income, homelessness and food insecurity. Join us in the food pantry, packing produce boxes for families in need, and working in the cafe. Family Friendly!

Join us as we roll up our sleeves and work on various task in the spirit of Dr. King’s powerful vision of social justice, equality, and community empowerment.
January 18
Join us at 9:00am or 11:00am for our Middle and High School poverty simulation at the Foundry in Building B at Leawood. Students will be given a card and have to walk through various stations and participate in activities and reflections surrounding the poverty experience. 6 – 12 Grade Only
Resurrection Leawood
Join us as we assemble Kindergarten readiness kits. The activities and materials in the kits are specifically designed to help preschoolers with readiness skills and development such as language and literacy, math, fine motor, and more. 15 & Older
Backpacks for Hunger
Help fight hunger! Our Backpacks for Hunger program provides nutritious food to help students get through the weekend and return to school ready to focus on schoolwork. Join us at the West Missions Center to prepare and pack up our weekend Backpacks for Hunger. We will pack almost 1000 bags that go directly to Olathe students! 10 & Older

A Turning Point
A Turning Point’s mission is to support families by providing basic needs and education to equip them for self-sufficiency. A Turning Point provides a food pantry, clothes closet, academy, community meals, and an outreach for the unhoused. We will be helping clients move through the shopping process, stock shelves and/or push carts. Wear weather-appropriate clothing and comfortable shoes.
Minimum age is 13 when accompanied by an adult.

Cornerstones of Care (KCMO)
Cornerstones of Care is a behavioral and mental health nonprofit dedicated to partnering with children and families to build safe and healthy communities. The youth who are living on CoC’s Ozanam Campus receive trauma-responsive support to improve safety, behavior, and aid in healing from trauma. Volunteers for this serve event will help prepare for the annual plant sale by cleaning, organizing, and setting up the greenhouse—creating a space where growth and hope can flourish. This is a hands-on way to serve kids and families while helping make a meaningful impact in our community.

Flourish: A Furniture Bank - Saturday
Flourish, Kansas City’s only furniture bank, partners with social service agencies to provide wrap-around services by empowering families to overcome housing insecurity. Join us as we help Flourish with their expansion to a storefront showroom space. Volunteers will disassemble shelving, pack items from current shelving, re-assemble shelving in the new space, and help with other projects, as needed.

Helping Hands
Helping Hands Construction Ministry’s mission is to be the hands and feet of Jesus in our city by assisting local non-profit organizations with small construction repairs. Join us at Blessings Abound in Overland Park where our projects for this event will include installing a door between the dock and sorting area, constructing heavy duty shelving in the sorting area, building four new sorting tables, expanding space in the furniture department, and installing slatwall on a 38′ wall.

KC Farm School
KC Farm School at Gibbs Road empowers individuals of all ages, ancestries, and abilities through on-farm, hands-on experiences and vocational education

Lead to Read KC
Join us in honoring the enduring legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. during our MLK Serve Saturday events on January 17. Lead to Read KC provides books to children across 28 public schools, at community events and through the “Reading Is Everywhere” program. Support our book distribution program by processing and labeling children’s book donations. Bring your own new or like-new children’s books to donate as well!

LSSS’s mission is to assist low-income, elderly, and/or disabled persons in the Lee’s Summit Social Services service area with emergency needs while enabling them to maintain their dignity and learn to set realistic goals. Avenue of Life helps families break the cycle of homelessness with a mission of mobilizing our community to equip and empower low-income individuals and families to be self-sustained and independent. Join us at Avenue of Life as we work throughout their facility to create a space that welcomes all!

Cornerstones of Care (KCK)
Cornerstones of Care is a behavioral and mental health nonprofit dedicated to partnering with children and families to build safe and healthy communities. Cornerstones partners with the community to provide as many resources as possible to help the children and families in their programs reduce barriers and challenges that negatively affect their lives. Help us organize our free clothing store and a few additional tasks to keep our store open for helping our community!

Learn about Operation Breakthrough’s incredible history and mission, explore the wide range of volunteer roles where your gifts can make a difference, and receive an overview of volunteer requirements and next steps. You’ll also experience a guided tour of the facility and see the work firsthand. This is a great opportunity to discover how you can support kids, empower families, and live out the spirit of service that MLK championed.

This is a family friendly serve event, and an excellent opportunity to invite a friend.

We will be packing winter warmth kits and building bikes and dressers for kids in foster care. We will have a special community justice experience for elementary aged students that will help them think critically about justice and how they can be part of shaping a community that looks more like the kingdom of God!

Kanbe’s Markets aims to redirect more than 1 million pounds of food in 2026. Join us to help sort donated produce into four categories: Kanbe’s Healthy Corner Stores (providing fresh, affordable produce to underserved areas), Community Partners (supplying food pantries), Animal Feed (supporting rescue farms), and Compost (for inedible produce).

Uplift
Uplift Organization is a mobile street outreach for the homeless of Kansas City. Three nights per week, we take four Sprinter vans loaded with food, clothing, and other essential supplies out to the homeless. Warehouse sorting sessions are a crucial part of our mission to take care and compassion to the homeless of Kansas City.
