More than 400 volunteers wielding paint brushes, shovels and smiles gave Woodland Early Learning Center and the Global Academy in the Kansas City Missouri School District a make-over June 18-27. When school starts, the students, staff and families will be welcomed back to renovated classrooms and spaces. The purpose was to create an inspiring learning environment for the students and to let this community know that they are valued. This annual project is a part of Resurrection’s 2030 Vision of strengthening preschool education low-income communities.
Outside, the volunteers also revitalized a community garden, in partnership with Samuel U. Rodgers Health Center and Kansas City Community Gardens, that will provide students with hands-on learning experiences and fresh vegetables to encourage healthy eating habits.
