Costa Rica - Day 5

2/27/25

Costa Rica: Feb. 22 - Mar. 1

Barb and Mark started off a very busy day with devotion on the bus. The full group hit the ground running at the church job site. The question from day 4 was answered with cement mixer spinning early on.

  • Cement area I would venture 45% finished by days-end and we will hit it again tomorrow.
  • Painting in the sanctuary was completed and moving on to other areas.
  • Electrical made huge progress.
  • Spackling has turned the corner and heading into final stretch.
  • Heavy metal mesh windows cut, painted and framed.

What’s a cement pour without a dog running across a wet finished section!

During our 60 minute siesta we could walk to local supermercado.

Church tonight was energetic, fairly loud, and amazing. Pastor had a translator repeat many of the points in English and congregation was warm and welcoming. His message was to thank us for our mission work and to encourage us. We might grow tired but God will sustain us. The highlight of the service was the communal prayer in the front. I would guess 90 percent of the Costa Rican congregation came forward.

This group is all about laughter and fun. After a full day it ended with a spirited UNO game.
