Honduras III

Saturday, August 5th, 2023

Today is the day! We arrived at the airport at 3:40am, and were greeted by friendly Global Mission faces, including a couple members from the June Honduras trip. I won’t say we’re were “bright eyed and bushy tailed” but we were all definitely excited!

We made it to our first flight gate very easily with time to relax and prepare our hearts and minds for the day and week ahead of us. Good thing we had that time – because it was a mad rush to our second flight due to an almost 30 minute delay of that first one. But we all made it, and the flight was very mild and quiet. When we arrived in Honduras, we efficiently got through immigration and met up with two of our drivers/interpreters for the week, Isaac & Jason. We loaded our luggage into our vans and got a bite to eat for lunch at the airport food court.

The van ride from Aeropuerto Internacional Palmerola to the Mission House in Tegucigalpa was about an hour. It was incredibly scenic with the mountains of Honduras in full view and beauty. When we arrived at the Mission House, we snapped a quick photo with the group and then settled into our rooms.

At 6:30p, we had dinner – and to me – that was our first true “taste” of Honduras. On that note, I’m not sure going back to food in America will be something we can do! Let’s just say, we are very well taken care of here. After dinner, we had a quick time of worship and devotion and then it was time to finished getting adjusted and turn in for a good nights rest.
