Ash Wednesday services at all Resurrection locations will be held on schedule today.
Scheduled programming has resumed for Thursday, February 13 at all Resurrection locations.
Our team was excited to return to Cuidad this morning to meet new friends and dive into educational experiences! The students at the Juan Wesley school begin each week with a civics assembly! They sing the national anthem, recite the pledge of Honduras and speak about a national hero. The entire student body participates! It was neat for the team to see, an opportunity to learn more about our neighbors here in country!
The youngest kiddos at the school (Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd and 3rd graders) participated in a few recreational games, inviting our team members to join them also! Limbo, hopscotch, freeze dance, musical chairs and a balloon popping game brought much joy to the spectators and to the participants alike! While we didn’t win the limbo contest, our team leader, Jon, joyfully celebrated a successful musical chairs triumph!
Soon after, our team split into groups to teach in four different areas: painting, drawing, drama and music! The painting and drawing classes will participate in an exhibition at the end of the week showcasing a few of their new skills! Drama and music will perform at the Lempira celebration on Friday!
In the afternoon, our team assisted a group of several young children in VBC! Scripture called for fishers of men (Matthew 4:18-19) and as we introduced this verse to the children, we discussed/demonstrated casting large nets! The students then made fish with perler beads and pipe cleaners, a popular craft!
We are reminded that even through a few language barriers and pivoting lesson plans, God is creating experiences here in Honduras that strengthen and delight our relationship with Him.
