Church programs for Monday, Jan. 22 will resume their normal schedule at all locations this evening.
Leawood’s Sunday night in-person worship has been moved to 4 pm for Sunday, February 11.
Our team is having a blast! Still full of energy on day 4! Here we are arriving to the school in Ciudad Espana. Ready to go!
Beginning with some school team spirit building, there was a scheduled soccer game. The cool thing is that the older kids play soccer and the whole school watches. That means the younger kids are learning as they observe team work demonstrated by the older kids. It was tons of fun in the process. Here are a couple pictures of our team and kids watching and supporting the soccer teams.
All of our teams taught school again in the morning. Sometimes you have to get creative! One teaching group helped the 2nd graders learn English words for head, shoulder, knees and toes… through music!
Here’s a short video of the kids enjoying their lesson:
Lunch was very special. We had the privilege of eating with the teachers and the school counselor and Olga, the principal of the school. Here’s a picture of Olga and the school counselor. It was an emotional moment recognizing that on this ten year anniversary, they have about 350 students, and many graduates, who are now in various fields, including teachers, as well as medical and other professionals. Many have gone from this school to college. The opportunities offered are amazing. How awesome that God would use us in this work!
We have tons of pictures of relationship building at VBS. Truly, one of the most impactful parts of the days have been the hugs and tears and laughter and just joy with children who have much to teach us. Here are some pictures.
We ended the day with an amazing meal. Cindy and her kitchen team cook food better than many of us have ever experienced.
As we close this day, our hearts continue to be filled. Ready to recharge with a night of rest so we will be ready for the next adventure tomorrow. Grace and peace to you all!
