Honduras II

Many Hands Make the Load Light

Today was a very productive day in El Obraje! In order to shake things up and give an equal opportunity to all, some members swapped duties. The pilas are coming along quite nicely, and our Honduran friends are teaching us valuable lessons in manipulating concrete! Painting continued at the church, displaying flamboyant colors of sunshine yellow and ocean wave turquoise! “Teamwork makes the dream work” and everyone on this team is willing to give it a go and help make the load light!

Vacation Bible school continued with the story of Abraham! The children were so patient and listened intently while church leader, Gabriella, shared the story. The team came prepared with several verses of “He’s Got the Whole World In his Hands” which has been a big hit with the children. That along with a rousing rendition of “Father Abraham” created a cacophony of worship! Our team was then tested with a ruckus round of “Pato, Pato, Gonzo”, better known as Duck, Duck, Goose. These kids are pretty good! Football, today was unfortunately a washout, but we had a fun time jamming with the worship band.

Upon arrival back in Danli, the team recouped and regathered for the US versus Panama football match. Dinner with Carlos was bittersweet, as we return to Teguc tomorrow afternoon.

We are excited for all the opportunities that God has been presented this week, both seen and unseen. Having faith is trusting and leaning into the unknown, continuing this mission long after the flight home. We are entrusted into a divine covenant with the people of Honduras, through our partnerships, friendships, with the communities of Ciudad Espana and El Obraje. To the pastors, the lay leaders, the youth, you will always be part of our team and always be on our hearts. We are grateful to God for causing a brilliant collision of cultures. Smiles and hugs are universal, they require no English, or Spanish.
