Malawi: April 24 - May 6, 2025

Like any trip there is planning that takes place before you go.  With a medical mission there is supplies to line up, medicines to buy, shipments to be made, and plane and hotel reservations to be finalized.  This comes after a full team of qualified medical professionals are recruited and credentialed.
Then comes the actual travel.  A trip that was to be four legs and almost 20 hours of flight time suddenly turns into a Kansas City to Washington, DC to Newark, NJ to Dublin, Ireland to Zurich, Switzerland, to Johanesburg, South Africa and then finally to Lilongwe, Malawi and about 48 hours of travel.
In the Bible God allows Satan to test Job by taking away his wealth, his family and finally his health.  For six of us, our travel seemed like a test of our faith.  We did not lose our wealth, our family or our health but we did start to lose our patience.
In the end our faith won out and we found a convoluted path that allowed us to get from Kansas City to Malawi, Africa.  We focused on the goal of arriving in time to worship with our faith partners in Malawi on Sunday.
At times we felt the Holy Spirit leading us in our decisions but in further review it may have just been indigestion from the airport food.
We are confident that this will all be a distant memory once we get the first medical clinic set up and get to establish meaningful relationships with our Malawian friends.
As we are currently on a five hour layover in Dublin, Ireland, we will leave you with “Top of the Morning to You!!!”.
