Malawi 2023 Blog 1

The team safely arrived in Johannesburg South Africa Friday early evening. Walking across the street to the airport everyone noticed how cool it was. It is winter here in the southern hemisphere.  We were able to enjoy a tasty dinner ( not airplane food) and get a good nights rest. Sleeping on a plane does not come easy to most of us. We departed Johannesburg Saturday morning for Malawi. We were all excited about not having to load and unload our bags every day.
We were met at the Lilongwe airport by Hugo, our partner, and Chifundo, our driver. After a stop at the ShopRite, the local grocery and to exchange our dollars for kwacha, we were headed to Madisi. Our destination for the week. We unloaded all of our bags; 13 of them, plus carry-on’s. The hotel is very nice and the food tasty. A few had the Chambo for dinner. It is a fish found only in Malawi.
Sunday morning we will attend church in Madisi at the Methodist church. More about that tomorrow. For now, good night. It’s 10:40 pm here!  Keep us in your prayers !
