South Africa Oct 2023 Blog 2

Hello from South Africa!  We caught a glimpse of the beautiful orange Africa sunset as we arrived together in Johannesburg, safe and sound, at 6:30 pm.  We made our way to the other side of customs by 8:30 pm where we had a warm welcome by John and Antoinette!  The customs computers were offline until 8:00 pm so while waiting in line we were reminded by a fellow traveler that our motto for this serve trip will be Fun Food Fellowship and Flexibility!  On the plane and in line we met two other groups coming to serve, one from a Baptist church from Jackson Mississippi working to help drill wells and another group from Utah.  We arrived at our lodging, Aandbloem, to meet our host Johan not John our chef.  After dropping our bags quickly in our rooms we gladly ate a delicious meal of roast chicken, cauliflower, rice and pumpkin balls, topped of by Malva pudding.  Everyone was tired so we didn’t linger long and headed for bed!  This morning we were greeted by new bird songs. Church with Westview Methodist.  It will be a glorious day!!
