Uganda: Jan. 28 - Feb. 8, 2025

Praise the Lord!!

We have learned so much from our hosts in Uganda.  They invite God to guide their lives and they radiate his love and goodness.  They are smart and eager to learn.  While we are presenting trainings to them, they are truly the ones teaching us as we watch them living joyously, praising God, and doing his work.

It was an unbelievable day!

It was Jeff’s birthday and the UCSS team surprised him with an energetic Happy Birthday song!!

Roxanne, Sheree and Jeff led all of the attendees to do the Enneagram personality assessment.  The discussion was lively as we broke into groups by personality numbers.   We learned about all of the different personality types and how understanding them will help us. We ended with a presentation on interpersonal skills.

Later, we were greeted with sing and dance at a permaculture farm.  We saw the fruits (pun intended) of their labors and were amazed at what they had accomplished in 14 years.  We also saw how they captured and used water for their crops.

Next we visited with the economic development area.  The jewelry and clothing they make are unbelievable.  They shared how the programs sustain the communities and decrease violence.  The programs also empower the people, especially the women. Our team spent some shillings for presents to bring home and a seamstress came to the Mission House to take our measurements for skirts they will deliver before we leave.

As we travel to our different stops, we truly enjoy ‘Jambo’ time!  Jambo means ‘hello’ and the children wave, smile and run toward us.   We usually just get a wave and smile from the adults.  Like everywhere, the teenagers are too cool for our game.  What a loving and accepting people.

We ended the evening having dinner with Dr. Ronald.  He shared stories and information about UCSS.  We are blessed!
