Blog Day 5

Another banner clinic day – this time at Baluya, the third location we will serve this week.  Residents of the surrounding areas walk miles to receive care, and frankly, participate in a giant community event. In cooperation with the phenomenal staff from UCSS we were able to assess & treat more than 500 patients. What services & activities take place in the medical clinic? The Resurrection team plus UCSS staff which is composed of physicians, nurses, dentists, laboratory support  pharmacists, optometrists, and lay volunteers that pair up in teams. Patients receive blood pressure monitoring, maternal & women’s health assessments, physical evaluation by physicians, on site glucose, malaria , & pregnancy testing. Routine dental assessments with tooth extractions as needed are provided. Baseline vision screening & reader glasses are given to adults. Medications are dispensed with post care instructions. Residents also have a chance to visit with a UCSS mental health professional.

As shared during our nightly debriefing sessions, we are serving all of Gods people & improving the lives of the Uganda people. There is no greater mission on earth. Our lives have been forever changed . Praise be to God and his almighty power.
