Intergenerational small groups can be a rewarding experience for everyone involved. By carefully considering the needs of all age groups, you can create a space where meaningful connections can grow, and a strong sense of community can thrive. Younger members can benefit from the experience and wisdom of older members, while older members can gain fresh perspectives and energy from the younger generations. Additionally, Interaction between generations can help break down stereotypes and create a more understanding and inclusive environment.

One small group leader shared the dynamics of her small group, which has been such a blessing to all involved. She shared the ages in their small group range from 30’s through 70’s, including couples, singles, various ethnicities and life experiences. This leader shared the uniqueness of her group has been so meaningful for her. She acknowledged her reluctance in even initially leading a small group and agreeing to commit to only five weeks. Over a year later, she reflects on the impact her small group has had on her life, in ways of more regular serving in the community, showing up for one another during life’s difficulties, and celebrating all the blessings of life. Everyone can learn so much from joining a small group, not only about being a part of a community, and also about having an impact on something so far greater than yourself.
