What is a Student Ministry Mentor?

Mentors are not teachers, parents, leaders, referees, or counselors.  Although some of the skills from these roles will come in handy when talking with and listening to students.

Where Do Mentors Volunteer?

Youth Group

Youth Group on Wednesdays where a greater percentage of students are non or nominal Christians.  Topics are chosen by students to address the subjects in which they are most interested.

Discipleship Groups

Discipleship Groups (which includes Confirmation) where students are hoping to grow deeper in their faith.  Topics are part of a scope and sequence, moving students into a deeper understanding of their faith.

Mentor Resources

Training Modules

This series of short videos will outline the critical elements in being a mentor.  You won’t have any questions after reviewing these.  You may even want to come back for a refresher.
