The remodeled Leawood Student Center opened Sunday, Jan. 11, with a ribbon cutting and dedication after each worship service. Students and congregants explored the new worship/program space, small group classrooms, café, and recreation space that includes basketball, a climbing wall, and game area.
This space, behind the Wesley Chapel, was Resurrection’s second sanctuary, competed in 1998. In 2005 the room was remodeled to be a Student Center, and after 20 years, it has been completely remodeled to serve new generations of students. The project was made possible by the generosity and commitment of the Resurrection Leawood congregation.
In the past year, 950 unique students have attended one or more of Resurrection’s student programs, including Sunday School, youth group, confirmation, youth choir, orchestra, bell choir, mission trips and retreats. This new Student Center space is designed to be a place for students to hang out, to learn, to grow, to worship and to belong.
