Dear Resurrection Family,

Happy May Day! It has been a whirlwind 24 hours! I’m grateful for your prayers. If you missed yesterday’s special eNote announcement, you can find it here.

This month I’ll complete the Sermon on the Mount series. These will be my final sermons until after the election. I’ll continue to write the opening portion of my eNote with spiritual reflections and updates on the upcoming weekend and maybe one or two things coming up in the life of the church, but I’m asking our communications team to help in preparing the rest of the eNote describing weekly highlights of opportunities for you to connect, study, serve, share and grow in your faith.

I’m looking forward to sharing this weekend’s sermon on The Lord’s Prayer, at the end of which I’ll share a few words about LaVon and my spiritual discernment that led us to the decision to run for the Senate.

THIS WEEKEND IN WORSHIP: THE LORD’S PRAYER

This weekend in our series on the Sermon on the Mount, we’ll turn to the most prayed prayer in the world, the one prayer Jesus taught his disciples to pray, The Lord’s Prayer. We’ll start with a bit of humor, but then unpack this prayer line by line. There is far more to this prayer than meets the eye. Most of us have this bit of scripture memorized (the Lord’s Prayer is found in Matthew 6:9-13), but do we really understand what we’re asking? In studying this prayer some years ago, as I wrote a book on it, I found that it changed how I pray this prayer and how it shapes my life.
Don’t miss worship this weekend. And, as an aside, even your friends who don’t attend church probably know this prayer. Invite them to join you this weekend. Here’s a link to all our worship locations and times.

RECOGNIZING OUR GRADUATES THIS WEEKEND

This Sunday, May 3, we’ll be celebrating our graduating seniors at all locations. We’ll have gifts for each senior as we recognize this important milestone. We’ll also have displays with photos and bios to recognize each high school senior and celebrate with their families. Here are more details.

Resurrection, I love you and I’m looking forward to worshiping with you this weekend!

In Christ’s love,

Adam
