Cliff Johnson and Duane Smalley

Demographic: ALL

Cliff Johnson and Duane Smalley are eager to explore new questions and fresh perspectives about the Christian with others. Cliff serves as a Director of Project Management in clinical research, leading large teams across the world. In addition to being an athlete and a drummer, he is a father of three girls and married to his wife of 19 years. Duane is a Congregational Care Minister and active volunteer at Resurrection, and has a special gift for finding healing with others who have had previous negative experiences with faith.

Bruce and Carolyn Kusmin

Demographic: ALL

Bruce and Carolyn Kusmin have gained so much from Alpha, and they are eager to share that with others. They enjoy pursuing growth together and have benefited from great mentors along the way. Bruce, who has spent his career in financial planning, is especially passionate about using his prior experience as a non-believer to have compassion for others on their journey. Join their group and spend time with these Alpha vets this Fall!

Ben and Julie White

Demographic: ALL

Ben and Julie White love getting to know a new groups of people while digging into faith questions together. Julie is a 6th grade math teacher in Olathe who enjoys baking and traveling. Ben is a service tech and foreman as a construction electrician, a field that leads him to interact with people from all walks of life. Ben and Julie love being grandparents and spending time with their dogs!

Bren and Brad Tally

Demographic: 20s & 30s

Bren and Brad Tally love to help people connect, feel like they’re not alone, and learn new things about being human. They have a special heart for young adults, bringing years of experience mentoring Millennials and Gen-Zers professionally and as parents of three young adults. Brad grew up in Chicago playing hockey and has been a small business owner practicing dentistry for 35 years. Bren is a Licensed Marriage and Family therapist with a past career in broadcast journalism, and she loves spending time with her community of church friends, children, and grandchildren. Together they want to create a space where people in their 20s and 30s can feel seen, heard, and known.

Bryon and Jessica Howlett

Dave and Lynn Krug

Demographic: 20s & 30s

Dave and Lynn Krug love enjoy interacting and engaging with young adults and to help them feel welcome. Dave works at Johnson Country Community College in the accounting department, and his personal experience of navigating anxiety and depression helps him connect with people in a vulnerable way.  (He is also hilarious. And wise.)  Lynn has worked as a medical coder and enjoys traveling with her friends. Dave and Lynn have two young adult children and many cats.

Morgan and Liz Bush

Demographic: ALL

Morgan and Liz Bush are experienced with Alpha. Every time they take it, they grow deeper in their faith, both in remembering familiar things and by learning new things. Liz has been a stay at home mom, and spent 13 years in the military prior to that. Morgan works as a mechanical engineer. In the midst of challenges such as loss of family members and busyness due to parenting, they continue to volunteer, garden, and more!  

Stephanie and Tyler Haberstock

Demographic: ALL

Tyler and Stephanie Haberstock are excited to lead Alpha because they are curious and love to continue learning and growing in faith. Stephanie works for a religious news publication as an editor and has a degree in communications and religion. She has been involved in small groups, and choir at church, and loves to read, hike, and spend time with her family. Tyler has a bachelor degree in Biblical Counseling and associates in Biblical Studies. He has been involved with the Resurrection Food Mobile, Resurrection Kids ministry, and more. He works with City Union Mission and loves to fish in his free time.

Scott and Michelle Jones

Demographic: ALL

Scott and Michelle Jones are still in a small group that traces its origins to Alpha in 2008! They love to create spaces where people can discuss Scripture and grow closer to God. Michelle has two part-time jobs, and her current hobbies include signing my kids up for activities and driving them to said activities. Scott is a physical therapist who enjoys getting to know, serve, and help others. He has led men’s ministries and small group studies in the past and enjoys sports, being active, the outdoors, and physical fitness and wellness. They have four children who keep them busy!

Ryan Kubert and Brent Hildebrand

Demographic: ALL

Brent Hildebrand and Ryan Kubert and are excited to explore the fundamental questions of the Bible with fellow Christians at any stage in their faith journey. Ryan is a husband and father to two little girls, ages 3 and 1. He works as a Civil Engineer specializing in site development projects and is an avid sports fan, particularly of any Nebraska Cornhuskers teams. Brent’s background is in pharmaceuticals, and he spends his time volunteering with agencies across Kansas City. He is a father and grandfather and loves to support his wife, Dena, a local filmmaker.

Jessica Griffiths and LaDonna Williams-Hunt

Demographic: 40s-60s

Jessica Griffiths and LaDonna Williams-Hunt love to meet new people and learning from their perspectives, believing that hearing the insights of other people is key to growth. Jessica grew up as a pastor’s kid and attended a Jesuit university She works part time as a substitute teacher, is a parent to three kids, and became a Master Gardener this year! LaDonna is a retired teacher and group facilitator, and volunteers in ministries all over Resurrection. She loves reading and spending time with her grandchildren.

Darelene Timmerman and David Kell

Demographic: 60+

Darlene Timmerman and David Kell look forward to meeting new people in their group and sharing different life experiences in a comfortable setting. Darlene is a retired RN, a Mom, and a Nana. She has served on medical mission trips and learning about other cultures. She brings life experience of divorce and finding contentment through grief. David has a background in Consultative IT. He loves to go deep in the Bible and spend time with his daughters and grandchildren. He has journeyed through both divorce and cancer. They will create a warm environment for 60s+ persons!

Alpha is a 10-week program designed to create a safe space for life’s biggest questions. As you discuss foundational topics of the Christian faith, you’ll build community with others in a non-judgmental environment of learning and fun.

Each session you’ll sit with your group, hear 25 minutes of live teaching, and then discuss the topic with your table community.

Wednesdays | Beginning Sept. 2 | Class – 6:30 PM

6:00pm – Optional Community Meal – $7 per person
