Preliminary Timeline:
While we are excited to break ground on the first phases of our larger campaign projects, we know that timing is dependent on a multitude of factors, some out of our control. Please know that the timeline below is preliminary and only an estimate of completion.
Sanctuary Speakers:
On Sunday, October 20th, the stained-glass window in the Sanctuary was revealed for the first time unobstructed! The original speakers were installed before the stained-glass window was finished so it has never been seen by anyone without the speakers obscuring part of the view.
Before: Pictured with the original speakers in place.
After the new speaker installation. Special thanks to the team at Vista Productions, who designed an audio solution that some of the best audio engineers in the country said could not be done.
Outdoor Recreation:
The plans for an outdoor recreation area in the lawn west of Building C were recently approved by the City of Leawood. This area will be visible to the community, and it will be a new hub of activity for our teenagers and people of all abilities. The designs include two courts for basketball and pickleball, a fun playground with inclusive equipment, a patio for outdoor events and movies on the lawn, and a new garage door connecting the remodeled Student Center to outdoor recreation. It is more cost effective to do this while renovations are being made to the Student Center. We are excited to break ground in Spring of 2025.
Student Center:
Our architects have reimagined our home for teenagers in Building C. The Student Center renovation will be an awesome upgrade, with a new café area, eight new classrooms, recreation and connection areas and an enhanced worship center with flexible seating for large events. This space has not been updated in nineteen years, with many of the students not being born since the last renovation. This new space will have a big impact on our growing youth ministry. Construction is expected to begin this spring.
New Chapel
As was shared in worship this summer, progress was initially paused on the chapel to allow time for a redesign to ensure the permanent chapel would be a meaningful and inspiring place for weddings, funerals and smaller worship services. The revised design draws its inspiration from one of the earliest images of the church – a boat or ark, and from the story of Jesus walking on the water to his disciples in the midst of a storm. Construction will last approximately fifteen months, putting the grand opening of the new chapel in mid-2026.
Building C Entrance and Counseling Center
As soon as the new chapel opens, we’ll begin work creating the new counseling center, prayer chapel and primary Building C entrance for students as well as our welcome and information center. We have recently added staff in the counseling department in anticipation of this expansion. This will be the final project of Generation to Generation to be completed.
As we complete year one in our three-year campaign, we want to invite you to be part of what’s happening at Resurrection Leawood. It’s an exciting time! A total of #37M was committed to be given over a three-year period and, at our one-year anniversary, we celebrate that we have already received $19M representing 52% of our total.
