Dear Resurrection Family,

This weekend was incredible. Thank you to everyone who returned your 2025 Ministry Fund Commitment Card. If you have not had the opportunity to do so yet, you may bring it with you to worship next weekend, or do so online here. Don’t forget to pick up your 2025 Resurrection mug if you’ve returned a card.

NEW PODCAST EPISODE ON THE POWER OF GRATITUDE IS LIVE

I’m sending this special eNote to share with you that we’ve just released the next episode of our new podcast, Making Sense of Faith. It is a special Thanksgiving Week edition on The Power of Gratitude. I imagine the podcast as a conversation I’m having with you, the listener, and one other person. In most cases there will be someone with me in the studio. This week Pastor Scott Chrostek joins me once more.

Listen to the end, I think you’ll be touched by the closing story from a Thanksgiving week visit I had with one of our parishioners 30 years ago.

I hope you’ll share this with friends and family. You can click here and go to makingsenseoffaith.org for all the information about the podcast. When you go to this page, you’ll see a “watch/listen” button at the top that will take you to the current (and previous) episodes to watch and listen on makingsenseoffaith.com. There is also an “ask a question” button where you can submit a question for a future topic.

You also can click on the buttons for different podcast services (Apple, Spotify, Amazon Music, YouTube and Audible) where you can use accounts you create to subscribe and listen to the podcasts. Below that is a box where you can share your email to receive podcast notes delivered directly to your inbox.

Future podcasts are going to explore some of the questions I’ve received about faith and Christmas. In December, we’ll talk about the meaning of Advent, the significance of the incarnation, whether we have to take the story of the Virgin Birth literally, and I’ll take you to the Holy Land to retrace the story of the first Christmas, and more.

BE ON THE ALERT FOR SPAM TEXTS AND EMAILS

Yesterday we became aware that several staff and family members had received a text that looked like it was coming from me. The tip-off that this was fake was that the area code and phone number were outside the Kansas City area. During the holiday season, it unfortunately seems like these kinds of spam messages increase. I’m sharing this reminder so you can be safe and secure online.

Please be diligent, and carefully check the phone number or email address that text and email messages come from before opening or responding. One thing to note is that individual emails from the church will come from a @cor.org email address, and our regular congregational emails and newsletters come from @sendgrid.resurrection.church. For example, my eNote comes from info002@sendgrid.resurrection.church. (Sendgrid is the secure delivery tool we use for emails.) We have several different numbers for our locations and ministries, but text messages from the church will all come from a 913 area code unless it is sent directly from a staff member with whom you have previously been in contact.

Blessings as you prepare for Thanksgiving. I’ll be sending a special prayer and scripture Thursday morning that you can share with your family and friends.

In Christ’s love,

Adam
