Dear Resurrection Leawood Family,

This is a very important week for our church! This coming weekend our congregation will return our annual stewardship commitment cards and our commitments in the Generation to Generation campaign. I am sending this update to those of you who worship at our Leawood location,If you are a visitor at Resurrection, we want you to know that we are preparing for an exciting future. For our members and those who call Resurrection their church home, this email has important reminders I wanted to share with you and a few invitations.
Reminders:

1. Your annual ministry fund commitment makes possible every part of our church’s ministry: children, youth, adults, seniors, Matthew’s Ministry, every support group, every act of care, everything we do in service to the community, and every worship service at all locations, online and television. It is our lifeblood. So, make your commitment first to the 2024 ministry fund.
2. Your Generation to Generation capital campaign commitment will determine if we:
  • Update our student center after 18 years, creating an awesome space for youth and an outdoor recreation area for all.
  • Renovate the current Wesley Chapel to become our Care Central with counseling and pastoral care, a small chapel and reception/welcome center.
  • Build our permanent chapel for weddings, funerals, 7:30 am worship, large classes and so much more.
  • Pay off the remaining Leawood debt, allowing us to be debt free, freeing up $1.2 million currently used for debt to instead be used for mission and ministry.

To accomplish all of the Generation to Generation goals, it will cost $46 million. While this would require a minor miracle, on Sunday I shared that 391 of our leaders already made their pledges in advance and they have already committed $28,020,160! I’m so proud of all who have already committed. This is an amazing start to the campaign.

But now it’s up to those who have not yet committed. I believe we have another 2,000 plus households who will make commitments in this effort. I’m hoping you will join in making these spaces possible by making a commitment in the Generation to Generation campaign, over and above your ministry commitment. Generation to Generation commitments are over a three-year (four tax year) time period.

At the bottom of this eNote is a standard gift profile chart for a campaign of this size. We’re not looking for equal gifts, but equal sacrifice. If we’ve prayed, and listened for God, and done what God calls us to do, whatever we raise will have a huge impact.

I have four requests of you:

1. Join us tomorrow for 15 to 20 minutes at our Tuesday Prayer Vigil anytime between 8 am and 8 pm. You can sign up for a time here, or just come anytime that works best for you. It starts where our proposed new chapel will be on the south side of Building B and continues through all of the spaces being renovated. We’ll have a prayer guide for you as you pray for these spaces, as you pray for our congregation and as you pray for God to lead you. This will be a meaningful time for you. Thank you in advance for making this a priority in your schedule on Tuesday.
2. This past week, we filmed a walk through these spaces describing what will happen in each. It was for my Vespers and you can watch it here – I think you’ll find it helpful to really visualize the spaces and the importance of these efforts.
3. If you missed this weekend’s sermon, please watch it by clicking here. The sermon was focused on being blessed, but the second half walks through the annual commitment and the Generation to Generation campaign with ideas for how you might participate. If you want to get more information on the campaign, you go to cor.org/generation.
4. Finally, please be in worship this upcoming weekend in-person, if possible, online if not, as we return our commitment cards. It will be a meaningful and moving weekend in worship!

I’m so proud of you, Resurrection, and excited about what the future holds for our congregation, generation to generation.

Adam

PS: Here is the gift profile that shows the kind of gifts needed for a $46 million campaign. It is not exact but a tool to help you think about your gifts. Again, these gifts are given over a 36-month period (which is over four tax years – 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026). Every gift matters. If you have questions, please reach out to Debi Nixon at debi.nixon@cor.org.
