Due to potentially damaging weather this afternoon and evening, the children’s musical and pre-show events in the Leawood Sanctuary have been cancelled and will be rescheduled.
Scheduled programming has resumed for Thursday, February 13 at all Resurrection locations.
Dear Resurrection Family,
I’m always so grateful for the way you step up to serve our community, and last week’s rummage sale was a perfect example. Volunteers gave more than 1,000 hours over 7 days preparing for and working at the rummage sale. The volume and quality of donations were incredible, bringing hundreds of people into the church. In all, United Women of Faith raised $49,590 to fund programs supporting women and children in our community. Thank you to everyone who supported this event!
Young adults ages 26-39 can still apply to join this year’s Emerging Leaders Cohort. This is a 10-month leadership program led by Pastors Joshua Clough and Wendy Lyons Chrostek along with Debi Nixon, our Executive Director of Donor Development. The program includes dynamic speakers on leadership topics, mentoring relationships with established leaders at Resurrection, and real-world leadership experience. The cohort also includes an optional trip to England to trace the roots of the Methodist movement and the leadership of John Wesley, with scholarships available to help with the cost. Space is limited to 45 participants, and applications are due July 19. You can learn more and apply here.
I stopped by Leawood’s new Wesley Chapel this week to see the progress and thought you might enjoy seeing the progress. The stained glass is being shipped and will be installed over the next month and a half. We’re still projected to move in late August. The new Wesley will be the home for our 7:30 am service, weddings, funerals and a host of other services and events.
Once the chapel is complete, renovations will begin on the current Wesley Covenant Chapel, which will become the main entry to Building C and the Student Center. The west side of the Wesley Covenant Chapel will house our counseling and support group ministries.
Thank you to all of you who have given sacrificially to make these spaces possible. This fall we’ll be the completion of our Generation to Generation capital campaign period. LaVon and I recently fulfilled our pledge, and I know many of you have, or will in the next few months, complete your pledges as well. If you have any questions about your capital campaign commitment, you can reach out to the Resurrection Development Office. Thank you!

As we celebrate fathers this weekend, we’ll also be sharing information about our men’s groups and events. We have fellowship opportunities such as the Pickleball Tournament (details below), our annual Determined Men’s Conference on Feb. 26-27, and Men’s Groups that meet regularly throughout the year. I’d like to encourage each of you to find a place where you can connect with other men in authentic ways. A faith-based connection gives relationships depth and direction. It’s not just camaraderie, but a shared faith and purpose gives the connection lasting meaning, and makes us better sons, husbands, fathers and friends. Learn more about opportunities for men here.
LaVon and I will be traveling this weekend to Greensburg, Liberal, Dodge City, Pratt, Cunningham, Hutchinson and Wichita!
In Christ’s love,
Adam
