Due to potentially damaging weather this afternoon and evening, the children’s musical and pre-show events in the Leawood Sanctuary have been cancelled and will be rescheduled.
Scheduled programming has resumed for Thursday, February 13 at all Resurrection locations.

Work began yesterday at our Community Makeover at The Hub, a community gathering place in the Argentine neighborhood of Kansas City, Kansas. The Hub is having a tremendous impact on the community through facilities providing a community market, clothing pantry, community garden and a commercial kitchen. Resurrection members are coming alongside the community to help refresh and strengthen the spaces that make it all possible. This annual summer project is a great way to have fun working alongside other Resurrection friends and community members and be part of something really special. Invite someone to join you and sign up here to help this week. I’ll be stopping by on Saturday afternoon between other events.
As the country prepares to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, there are a lot of great programs and events happening across the country. American Public Square is hosting a program on Thursday, June 18, at 6 pm at Johnson County Community College. A nationally respected panel of historians and scholars will examine the legacy of the Declaration of Independence and offer a constructive report card on American democracy, 250 years in the making. “Self-Evident Truths” will be a thoughtful and informative program, and you can attend in person and virtually. You can learn more and register here.
One final thing: if you’re downtown for any of the World Cup events, check out the new murals at Resurrection Downtown that welcome soccer fans to Kansas City. Below is the mural on 1601 Grand, and there’s also one at 1522 McGee. It’s exciting to have so many visitors in Kansas City, and I hope we can welcome them to worship at Resurrection.
