Due to potentially damaging weather this afternoon and evening, the children’s musical and pre-show events in the Leawood Sanctuary have been cancelled and will be rescheduled.
Scheduled programming has resumed for Thursday, February 13 at all Resurrection locations.
At 97, Mildred Schindler Janzen has a story few could imagine living through. She survived the Holocaust under Hitler, then faced an entirely new threat as Stalin’s forces advanced, and has written about that journey in her book Surviving Hitler, Evading Stalin. On Thursday, July 23, those 55 and older are invited to hear her tell it firsthand. The morning begins with a screening of “Mildred’s Escape, A WW2 Survival Story,” a short documentary by long-time Resurrection member Dena Hildebrand, who discovered her passion for filmmaking at 60 and has since become an award-winning filmmaker with four films and seven film festival selections to her name, earning recognition including Best Documentary and Best Local Film. After the film, there will be time for conversation and Q&A with both Dena and Mildred, followed by a casual lunch. Registration is $15 and includes the meal.
