Prayer Tip--Made for More: When the Spirit Sends

Today’s Scripture reminds us that God is not distant. God is with us, and God is still speaking. It’s easy to imagine God as distant or uninterested in what’s happening in our lives. But God is right here with us. And this incredible God speaks into our lives, inviting us to join in on the amazing work God is doing in this world. Like Samuel, so often we don’t hear God’s invitation because we’re not listening. We have busy lives and many demands that pull us in many directions. It can be hard to find time to sit and listen for God’s invitation.

What would happen if you made time today simply to stop and say, “Speak, Lord, your servant is listening”?

I encourage you to pray with me:

Wonderful and Holy God,
Speak—I am listening.
I know I can be distracted.
I know I can be so busy I don’t hear you.
But here I am now, listening for your invitation.
Give me courage to follow your Son, Jesus.
Guide and direct me by the power of your Holy Spirit.
I am yours.
Use me today to do your work in this world.
Speak, Lord, your servant is listening.
Amen.
