Ash Wednesday services at all Resurrection locations will be held on schedule today.
Scheduled programming has resumed for Thursday, February 13 at all Resurrection locations.
As God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience. Bear with one another and, if anyone has a complaint against another, forgive each other; just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in the one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; teach and admonish one another in all wisdom; and with gratitude in your hearts sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
A few years ago, I sat with a couple celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary. I asked them the secret to their long marriage. They didn’t talk about romance or grand gestures. Instead, they spoke of kindness, patience, and forgiveness—the very things Paul writes about in Colossians 3.
“Above all, clothe yourselves with love,” Paul says. Not love as a fleeting emotion, but love as a daily decision. A way of seeing and treating others—with compassion when they struggle, humility when we’d rather be right, and forgiveness when they let us down.
This Valentine’s week, whether you’re celebrating with a spouse or partner, spending time with friends, or just going about your usual routine, I invite you to try a simple prayer practice: Each morning, ask God to help you see someone through His eyes. Maybe it’s your spouse, a coworker, or even the stranger who cuts you off in traffic. Let love shape your response.
The world doesn’t need more empty expressions of love—it needs people who embody it. And as we do, the peace of Christ takes root, binding us together in something far deeper than a holiday could ever capture.
Lord, open our eyes to see others as You do. Fill our hearts with patience, kindness, and love that endures. Amen.
This week's prayer tip is by Max Franks, who serves as a Connection & Care Pastor at Resurrection's Leawood location.
