Voices Combined

Note: This week’s GPS draws on lyrics from two of the most popular songs from Netflix’s KPop Demon Hunters, “Golden” and “What It Sounds Like”.

It’s one thing to believe something quietly on your own. It’s another thing to be sent out to live it in the open, especially alongside other people whose voices sound nothing like yours. Today’s song lyrics land on that note of resolution, moving from fear into something fearless and undefined, voices combining into one sound when darkness meets the light. Jesus’ final words to his disciples carry the same shape. He didn’t send one person out alone to change the world. He gathered a group, some still doubting even in that moment, and commissioned all of them together, promising his presence would go with them to the very end.
