Ash Wednesday services at all Resurrection locations will be held on schedule today.
Scheduled programming has resumed for Thursday, February 13 at all Resurrection locations.
Join us on Saturday morning, September 27, at Resurrection Leawood, for Find Your Purpose – a gathering designed for anyone ready to make the next season their best season in life. This inspiring event, both in-person and online from 8 am to 1 pm, is geared for anyone ages 55 and over (but all are welcome!) seeking to discover joy and meaning in their next chapter. Bishop Will Willimon, one of the most influential preachers of the last century and former Duke University Chapel Dean, will share his insights on moving from a success mindset to a significance mindset and how to find your purpose in any season of life, helping you define who you are after life transitions. Alongside Will, Pastor Penny Ellwood, our Resurrection Blue Springs pastor, and Pastor Scott Chrostek will be joining in on the morning as well. This is an event you really don’t want to miss.
Join us this October for The Five Essential Practices: Exploring the Christian Life, a practical 3-week study designed for anyone ready to take concrete steps in their faith journey. Whether you’re just beginning to explore what it means to follow Christ or looking to deepen your existing relationship with God, this study will introduce you to five foundational practices—worship and prayer, study, serve, give, and share—that can transform how you experience faith in everyday life. We’ll examine habits that not only strengthen your connection with God but also enhance your relationships with others and help you recognize God’s presence in daily life. This isn’t about adding another item to your to-do list—it’s about discovering sustainable practices that can genuinely enrich your life and faith. This study comes alongside our October sermon series and explores the question of why faith community matters to the practical question of how we actually live it out. Join us on Thursday, September 25, at 6:30 pm at Jewish Vocational Services (4600 The Paseo, Kansas City, MO) for an evening dedicated to immigration and refugee services in our community. You’ll hear directly from Literacy KC about their English language education programs, learn about current volunteer opportunities with JVS, and get updates from our Resurrection Liaisons on local agency partnerships. This free event offers a chance to connect with others committed to supporting immigrants and refugees while discovering concrete ways to contribute to this essential work. Coffee and snacks will be provided as we explore how individual action can create meaningful change in our neighbors’ lives.
We are currently seeking volunteer leaders to serve on key committees and elected positions: Finance, Trustees, Staff Parish Relations, Foundation, Nominations, and Lay Delegates to Annual Conference. Our second graders are ready to take an important step in their faith journey as they prepare to learn about Communion! On October 19, families are invited to join their child for a special Communion Retreat, where you’ll explore the meaning and beauty of this sacred tradition together. This meaningful experience will culminate on November 2nd during worship, when we’ll celebrate our young learners with a special recognition moment featuring families sharing their retreat experiences. Registration for the October 19 retreat is now open—we can’t wait to witness this joyful milestone with your family as your child discovers a deeper understanding of faith and community.
