Christianity as Wesley Lived it
The Movement of People Called Methodists was born in the 1700s, at a time when English society was highly polarized. Rationalism and the Enlightenment had led people to believe they no longer needed God. The rich struggled with materialism while the poor with lack of necessities. Into this world a priest and Oxford professor named John Wesley came to trust in Christ and began preaching a faith that would spark a revival of Christianity that brought together the head, heart and hands. That movement would spread throughout the British Isles and across America and Wesley’s message and faith continues to speak today. For the next three weeks we want you to join us as we take you back to England where it all began, and we retrace Wesley’s life and the beginnings of Methodism by exploring together, as 21st Century Christians, God’s calling for us today. Wesley’s story is our story – it is our heritage, it defines our faith and it challenges us to rediscover our spiritual passion. Join us for the next three weeks, as we seek revival in our life together as a people called Methodists.
