Ash Wednesday services at all Resurrection locations will be held on schedule today.
Scheduled programming has resumed for Thursday, February 13 at all Resurrection locations.
Day 2 on site was a complete delight! With a better understanding of the tasks at hand, we were able to move more quickly and to start to see visible progress from our efforts. After lunch we walked to the local store & treated ourselves to ice cream & sodas before going back to work. The treats were good… but the banter & conversations on the walk were even better. It’s amazing how in only a short amount of time, our group has truly evolved from relative strangers into treasured friends.
We ran out of outdoor stucco before being able to finish the exterior walls but are confident we can knock that out tomorrow. We’ve made great progress on the interior stucco and painting the bunk rooms. We’ve also enjoyed sporadic breaks to play with the kitten & dog who live on site… enjoy the fruit trees… relax in a hammock… and this afternoon got the added treat of some local kids stopping by to play soccer. They gave our teens a run for their money by showing some pretty incredible skills, then promised to come back for a re-match tomorrow!!
We wrapped up the day with a quick stop at Walmart to grab some personal supplies each of us were running low on and to shop for supplies for our new friend out of North Carolina to make his famous communion bread we’ve been hearing so much about. After dinner we visited over topics like “what’s your super power”, “where did you see God today”, and sharing our highs, lows, and “buffalos” (IYKYK!!) then Sara & her girls led us in an engaging devotion and we retreated to listening to music, playing cards, eating brownies the teens made for us… then tasting the communion bread… it lived up to the hype!!! We’re excited to get to use it for our communion service on Thursday!!
It was a fun filled day where NO QUESTION God was present. He had to have smiled at the work we’ve accomplished, and laughed to himself that even if the greatest thing we did today was to root for a soccer game on a slab of concrete with a birthday boy from Costa Rica or sing a song badly at the top of our lungs on the worksite… there’s nothing else he’d rather us spend our time doing….
So he sent us an unbelievable sunset to show his approval of our “work”
