Blog 2

07/26/27

Costa Rica: July 24 - August 1, 2026

First, let me introduce myself.
My name is Bun Bun, and because these 15 amazing women are going to busy being the church, I’ve taken it upon myself to update this blog to let our dear readers, made up of family and friends, know about all of the adventures we are having!
Bun Bun here— Day 2. Today is Saturday, and the ladies whisked me away to a beautiful coffee farm— Hacienda Alsacia. I’m grateful for caffeine because I was up all night hanging with some rowdy dogs— literally— they seemed really mad and loud. Anyway, this place apparently grows coffee for a coffee shop called Starbucks? It was beautiful with tons of flowers, butterflies, hummingbirds, and coffee arabica plants! Like Ms. Katy said, it was like being inside the movie Encanto. Mr. Hector was our amazing tour guide. Our group had many thoughtful questions. We learned all about how coffee is made and issues causing challenges. We learned about the hard work it takes to make it and the proper way to brew it. I tasted some and thought it was pretty bitter; some of my friends agreed (especially my besties Ellie and Ellie), but others were quite impressed. We had a great lunch under a plant-covered pavilion, including some sweet treats!

After the farm, we made the 4-hour journey to San Isidro. Specifically to Costa Rica Mission Project, where we will stay until Thursday. We stopped on the way to try various Costa Rican delicacies. I snuggled with my besties while watching a movie on a phone rigged up with cotton floss and bandaids. We saw beautiful views including sprawling mountains and city skylines. We even drove through the clouds!

Once we arrived at the CR Mission Project, we got settled and ate dinner. The staff advised that we ate green banana mash and iguana meat, but they may have been joking about that second part (hopefully— it tasted a lot like steak).

I’m getting used to my home for the next few days. The sun sets in Costa Rica about 6 p.m., so I haven’t explored too much, but it seems great. I’m excited to go to church tomorrow and to sleep on a top bunk!
