Ash Wednesday services at all Resurrection locations will be held on schedule today.
Scheduled programming has resumed for Thursday, February 13 at all Resurrection locations.
Today was a beautiful expression of Honduran culture! It began as the team visited the
Juan Wesley school in Ciudad España. On July 20th, Hondurans celebrate their famed warrior, Lempira! Lempira was instrumental in establishing the native lands of Honduras. He is represented on the Honduran currency, the Lempira, and widely celebrated this time of year. Our team was fortunate enough to encounter the celebrations at Juan Wesley with music, dancing and elaborate costumes worn by the students.
Several of the students at Juan Wesley are supported by families in our Resurrection congregation. Each time a team travels to Honduras, there is an intentional opportunity to get to spend time with them and grow those relationships. It is truly a remarkable sense of community beyond the separations of mileage and language. Each sponsored child and their families were able to share a meal with our team. So many of the sponsors consider their Honduran students part of their family, and it is an elated JOY to be able to share time with them in their beautiful country!
As the team traveled back to Tegucigalpa, a highlight of many trips is a visit to Christ statue at El Picacho. The lush national park is a natural beauty surrounded by the millions who live in Teguc. The Christ statue sits 4,353 feet above sea level and the views of the city are astounding. The team was even entertained by the echoes of a marching band practicing for Lempira celebrations.
As the team spends its final night in Honduras, we are incredibly honored and so thankful for all the support and prayers from our Resurrection family. The Honduran people are most gracious hosts from the village of El Obraje to the school in Ciudad, from translators to bus drivers, from strangers who became family. Missioning is something God calls us to do. He is the only one who has the power to forge relationships between cultures, lands and languages. If God calls you to go, we pray you listen.
