Due to potentially damaging weather this afternoon and evening, the children’s musical and pre-show events in the Leawood Sanctuary have been cancelled and will be rescheduled.
Scheduled programming has resumed for Thursday, February 13 at all Resurrection locations.
Today was Lempira Day—and without question, one of our favorite days of the week!
The morning was filled with celebration as we joined the students for the school’s festivities honoring Honduras’ national hero, Lempira. The campus came alive with music, traditional dress, dancing and incredible displays of Honduran culture. Watching the students beam with pride as they celebrated their heritage was a beautiful reminder of the richness of this country and the joy found in honoring its history.
After the festivities, we slowed the pace a bit with a stroll through Valle de Ángeles. The charming mountain town, lined with coffee shops, artisan markets and colorful souvenir shops; gave us the chance to soak in a few final moments together. We enjoyed good coffee, searched for the perfect gifts for family and friends back home, and reflected on all that God has done throughout the week.
The day concluded with one of our favorite traditions—celebrating the people who make this mission possible.
We gathered to express our appreciation to our translators and transportation manager, whose patience, flexibility, and servant hearts have carried us through every conversation, every schedule change, every mile and every ministry opportunity. While we may have come to serve, they have been the steady hands and faithful partners who have made this week possible. Their friendship has become one of the greatest gifts of this trip.
Now our suitcases are packed.
Tomorrow we begin the journey home.
As we prepare to leave Honduras, we do so with hearts that are full. We came hoping to make a difference, but once again, we leave realizing that God has changed us just as much. Through His grace, He has reminded us that ministry is found in relationships, that joy is contagious and that His love speaks every language.
It’s always hard to say goodbye.
But here, goodbye never really means goodbye.
It simply means…
Until next time and en español…hasta la próxima!
