Malawi: April 23 - May 5, 2026

What an emotional day we had today.  We spent the morning visiting all the Opulence projects and saw an enormous amount of progress from last year to this year.  More than half our team has been to Malawi three, four or five times and we have watched the Opulence projects, supported by Resurrection, grow and prosper.
We saw the Kamungwe Village wash project, the permaculture projects, the experimental farm, the library, and the seed bank.  We talked about the solar projects to and received updates on it’s progress.  All these projects are amazing and to watch them over the last four or five years grow and mature has been amazing.
The Kamungwe Village wash project was extremely impressive.  It took water from a deep bore well, pumped it up to a holding tank on a nearby hill using solar to power the pump, and then distributed water to several villages to a total of 575 people.  All the piping was buried underground and the number of distribution sites and the distance between them was an engineering feat.  We could all see the dramatic impact that these projects are having on the people of Madisi.
I can’t explain in the few short lines I have in this email how amazing the progress has been and how dramatic the impact is on the people of Madisi.
In the afternoon today we recruited fifteen local clinicians and administrators from local clinics to help us break down bulk medicine containers and package the drugs into quantities that our doctors will prescribe when needed.  This group project allowed us to socialize with the local doctors and nurses that we will be working with in the coming week.
We ended the day with a banquet for the US team and the Malawian team.  We heard from the local doctors about their organizations and how much they appreciated the support they got from the Resurrection teams in years past and their hope that the coming week would be just as impactful for the communities that they work in.
We had US doctors talking to Malawian doctors, we had US nurses talking to Malawian nurses, and we had US pharmacists talking to Malawian pharmacists.  It showed us how much we have in common, not how much we differed.
