Our team headed out towards Madisi, Malawi to a village close to where the Permaculture Farm is that Resurrection supports. It was amazing to see the produce that the Permaculture Farm was producing.
Again today, we did not expect large crowd in such a densely populated area but the minute we had the pharmacy and clinicians area set up people came streaming in from the road and we ended up with a long line that strung out all the way around the building that the clinicians were working out of.
The pharmacy and the induction table both had to be set up outside under different trees. We had to move these tables as the sun moved across the sky to stay in the shade.
By the days end we saw 379 patients. 25% of the people we saw tested positive for Malaria. A few of the children below the age of two had fevers of 103 to 105 degrees. Quick action to pull the fevers down was necessary.
In our wrap up meeting later in the evening after showers and dinner we all worked until 9:30 PM to pre-pack medicines into plastic packages with graphic instructions for the patients. We had a chance to tell each other stories about our interactions with different patients we saw that day and what it meant to us to have developed a good relationship with the Malawian medical staff that we got to work with that day.
It was an emotional end to the day to see the bonds that were forming between two different medical teams that had a common goal. A goal to serve our brothers and sisters in Christ.
